…And Then There Was X is the third album by the famous American rapper DMX. It came out on December 21, 1999, and was released by The Island Def Jam Music Group, Def Jam Recordings, and Ruff Ryders Entertainment. The album did really well and got nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album in 2001, showing how important it was in hip-hop. The songs from the album, like « What’s My Name, » released on December 28, 1999, « Party Up (Up in Here), » out on February 20, 2000, and « What These B*tches Want » featuring Sisqó, released on June 6, 2000, helped DMX become even more popular. « Party Up (Up in Here) » especially did really well, reaching number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Earl Simmons, born on December 18, 1970, and passing away on April 9, 2021, was an American rapper and actor known professionally as DMX. He was a big influence in hip hop during the late 1990s and early 2000s. His music is known for its tough style of rapping, covering topics from tough life experiences to prayers. Many consider him one of the greatest rappers ever. He started rapping in the early 1990s and signed with Ruff Ryders Entertainment and Def Jam to release his first studio album, « It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, » in 1998. It did really well, selling 251,000 copies in its first week. He had other successful singles like « Where the Hood At? » and « X Gon’ Give It to Ya. » DMX made history by being the first artist to have five albums in a row reach number one on the Billboard 200 chart, starting with his debut and ending with « Grand Champ » in 2003. Overall, DMX sold over 74 million records worldwide.
