Stories are all about asking life’s questions – questions about humanity, the heart, and the world all around us. And science fiction is the story genre that asks the biggest questions of all. Well, the movies on this list dare to ask the really big questions – and some of them throw a few explosions and mind-bending twists in for good measure.

It’s one of the most successful movies made in the last several years – and you’ve probably never even heard of it. The Chinese film The Wandering Earth came out in 2019 and was a smash, becoming the second-highest all-time box office grosser in the history of Chinese cinema. The story takes place in the not-too-distant future of 2061, when the sun has begun expanding and threatens the Earth’s existence. What’s a group of action astronauts to do? Why, strap a bunch of fusion-powered rocket boosters – known as « Earth Engines » – to the planet’s surface and blast it into a new solar system over four light years away.

Think back to the goofy fun of all those world-saving epics from the late ’90s, and you’ll start to get a sense of what you’re in for with The Wandering Earth. Did you like Armageddon? Well, you’ll probably like this, but it’s got the added benefit of having 21st century special effects and stunts. Make some popcorn and strap in for the ride of your life.

قد لا أحتاج الى تذكير السادة المشاهدين الى حقيقة أننا كنا نعيش في عالم مترابط اما بشكل مباشر او رقميا… لكن يبدو إن الفيروس التاجي الجديد قد يجعلنا اكثر تواصلا رقميا من ذي قبل .
كما ان كوفيد-19 أبان أنه لا يمكن لأي بلد أن يعالج هذه المشكلة بمفرده ، ولا يمكن ترك أي جزء من مجتمعاتنا المختلفة الشرقية والغربية والشمالية والجنوبية ، الغنية والفقيرة في الخلف إذا أردنا الاستجابة بفعالية لهذا التحدي العالمي.
من هنا يظهر أن Covid-19 ليس فقط اختبارًا لما مدى قدرة أنظمتنا الصحية للاستجابة للأمراض المعدية ، ولكنه أيضًا اختبار لقدراتنا على التعاون كمجتمع داخل القطر الواحد أو كمجتمع دولي في مواجهة تحد مشترك.
إنها وظعية جديدة فاصلة قاسمة حادة ، ولحظة من لحظات التفكير القاسي لتقييم المدى الذي وصلت اليه عقود من التقدم الاجتماعي والاقتصادي…
ستختبرنا الأسابيع والأشهر المقبلة بوضعية أنظمة إدارة الأزمات الوطنية والحماية المدنية – وستسلط الضوء بالتأكيد على فجوات الصرف الصحي والإسكان والعوامل الأخرى التي تؤثر على القضايا ذات الصلة بالصحة.
سنكتشف لا محالة أن صحة الجميع ترتبط بصحة أكثر الأفراد تهميشًا في المجتمع البشري. ولمنع انتشار هذا الفيروس ، يجب ضمان وصول العلاج بشكل عادل للجميع.
وهذا يعني التغلب على العوائق القائمة التي تحول دون الحصول على رعاية صحية ميسورة التكلفة وسهلة الوصول… ومعالجة التفاوتات الطويلة الأمد في العلاج التي تستند غالبًا على الدخل أوالجنس أوالجغرافيا أوالعرق أو الدين أو الوضع الاجتماعي.
لضمان الوقاية والعلاج الفعال لـ Covid-19 ، سيكون من الضروري التغلب على الممارسات المنهجية التي تهمل حقوق الأقليات الاجتماعية.
من المحتمل أن يكون الأشخاص الذين يعيشون في المؤسسات – المسنين والسجناء على وجه الخصوص – أكثرَ عرضة للإصابة المحتملة ويحتاجون إلى إيلائهم اهتماما خاصا في التخطيط للأزمة والاستجابة لها.
يجب أن يؤخذ بالاعتبار المهاجرون واللاجئون – بغض النظر عن وضعهم الرسمي – في الأنظمة والخطط الوطنية لمكافحة الفيروس. يوجد العديد من هؤلاء النساء والرجال والأطفال في أماكن تكون فيها الخدمات الصحية مثقلة أو يتعذر الوصول إليها.
بعيدًا عن هذه التحديات العاجلة جدًا ، سيختبر الفيروس التاجي بلا شك مبادئنا وقيمنا وإنسانيتنا المشتركة.
عندما يترسخ الخوف وعدم اليقين ، لا يكون كبش الفداء بعيدًا أبدًا. كانت هناك بالفعل تقارير عن الغضب والعداء تجاه الناس تجاه النساء تجاه الأطفال تجاه الأقارب وتجاه الأجانب.
انتشر وينتشر الفيروس بسرعة في جميع أنحاء العالم ، مع عدم اليقين بشأن عدد الإصابات… اضافة الى أن اللقاح قد لا يكون متاحا إلا بعد عدة أشهر ، مما يسبب خوفًا وقلقًا عميقين لدى الأفراد والمجتمعات على حد سواء.
سيسعى بعض الأشخاص عديمي الضمير بلا شك إلى الاستفادة من الوضعية ، من خلال التلاعب بالمخاوف المشروعة وإذكاءها في سبيل الربح المادي أو السياسي.
يجب على القادة السياسيين أن يأخذوا زمام المبادرة ، ويكتسبون ثقة الناس من خلال التمتع بالشفافية والسرعة في المعلومات المقدمة ، والعمل معًا من أجل الصالح العام وتمكين الجميع من المساهمة في مكافحة الفيروس.
إن إفساح المجال للشائعات والخوف والهستيريا لن يعيق حل الأزمة فحسب ، بل يمكن أن يكون له آثار أوسع على حقوق الإنسان وعمل المؤسسات الديمقراطية.
اليوم ، لا يمكن لأي دولة أن تحمي نفسها من تأثير الفيروس التاجي – بالمعنى الحرفي للكلمة ، ولكن أيضًا انهيار أسواق الأسهم وإغلاق المدارس والمتاجر ستكون له تبعات كارثية اقتصاديًا واجتماعيًا.
للحفاظ على صحة المليارات من الناس ، يجب تطوير استجابة دولية تضمن تجهيز البلدان النامية لتشخيص هذا المرض وعلاجه والوقاية منه.
إذا كانت استجابتنا للفيروس التاجي مبنية على مبادئ الثقة والشفافية والاحترام والتعاطف لأكثر الفئات ضعفاً ، فلن ندافع فقط عن الحقوق المتأصلة في كل إنسان ، ولكننا سنزود أنفسنا بأفضل الوسائل العملية للتغلب على هذه الأزمة… وتلك القادمة.
إن مسألة المعايير والقيم هي في صميم الناقشات حول التغيرات التي يمكن ان يحدثها كوفيد-19، لذا ارتأينا ضرورة تخصيص حلقة خاصة مع متخصصين في علم الاجتماع والعلوم السياسية لتحديد هذه التحولات الممكنة ومحاولة الوقوف على ما ستنطوي عليه في الممارسة.
